Martin Garrix
Biography
Martijn Gerard Garritsen, known by his stage name Martin Garrix, is a Dutch musician and producer born on 14 May 1996 in Amstelveen.
He signed a professional contract with Spinnin’ Records in 2012.
He is best known for his track Animals, which reached number one in Belgium and the United Kingdom and entered the Top 10 in more than ten countries.
He terminated his contract with Spinnin’ Records and cut ties with his management in August 2015.
Following a lawsuit, he regained the rights to his songs released under that label between 2012 and 2015 thanks to a 2017 court ruling.
In early 2016 he founded his own label, STMPD RCRDS, as a tribute to his father’s stamp business.
On 26 July 2016 he signed a worldwide deal with Sony Music International, citing their visionary approach to streaming and understanding of his artistic vision.
He was voted the world’s top DJ in DJ Mag in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2022 and 2024.
He has also held artist residencies at renowned venues such as Hï Ibiza and OMNIA Nightclub.
In recent years he has continued to evolve by experimenting with new sounds and collaborations.
In 2023 he released his first artistic album, Sentio, marking a shift toward a more melodic and introspective style while retaining his signature energetic drops; the project was well received and consolidated his versatility.
