Ben Gold

Biography

Ben Gold is a trance DJ and producer from London, United Kingdom, now based in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Born Benjamin Graham Lawton, he is the son of Tony Green, with whom he co-ran the label [l15323] in the mid-2000s.

From the age of 18 he drew attention for his energetic style and technical mastery on the decks at Camden Palace in London, reworking tracks live. Alongside his work as a studio sound engineer for figures like Judge Jules, he has pursued a career as a producer and DJ in the trance and tech-trance scenes.

His productions and remixes, regularly played by top DJs such as Armin Van Buuren, Paul van Buuren, Sander Van Doorn, Marco V and Eddie Halliwell, have been broadcast on stations like BBC Radio 1 and Galaxy and on renowned shows such as A State of Trance and Trance Around The World.

His tracks have appeared on key compilations like Trance Nation Harder and Deeper, and he received accolades such as Judge Jules’ “Tried and Tested” and Above & Beyond’s “Tune of the Week”. His 2006 collaboration “Frontline”, with A-sides “Global System” and “Surface to Air”, became an anthem of the year.

That same year his remix of “Everlast” by Primer became one of the most sought-after, and his remix of “Diamondback” by Mekka earned him a signing to Paul Oakenfold’s Perfecto Records, with Oakenfold calling him “a talented producer and unquestionably one to watch”.

As a DJ he has played major clubs and events such as The Gallery at Turnmills, Peach at Heaven, the Honey Club in Brighton and Passion at Coalville, bringing, according to peers, a breath of fresh air to the electronic scene.
