Biography

Xeya, born Simona Attanasio, is an Italian singer who began her career in 1987 with her debut single Say the Word, produced by the duo Rosa-Politi.

Her second single, Erotic Play, followed in 1988. In 1990, with the production trio Natale, Turati, Melloni, she released Deputy of Love, a massive club hit in Europe and North America that established her as a European sex symbol and a leading figure in Italo dance.

In 1992, the track Pepito (Pepitò Corazon Featuring Xeya) was released. In 1993, the band DPR chose her as lead singer for a cover of Blondie's Call Me, a major European success licensed in Canada in 1995. She then joined Bananarama and Whigfield for the Energy Rush Tour in Canada.

In 1994, with DPR, she scored further hits with Take Me and Love 4 Anymore. In 1995, her track Kiss Me became a global Italo dance anthem, remixed by DJs such as Santy, Omh, and Napo.

In 1996, Sweet Fantasy cemented her status as an Italo disco queen. In 1997, her voice was featured on ambient-house projects and she was the lead singer on the club hit Fire Byrd.
