Village Girls

Village Girls

Biography

Village Girls are an Italian music trio made up of Cinzia, Alessia and Lorena. The project was launched in 2007 by singer and producer Roby Burillo Panarello of the band Los Locos, following a meeting in a Village People village.

Their show is built around energetic, reworked covers of major hits by the American group Village People, such as YMCA and In The Navy, even turning Macho Man into “Macho Girl”. Performed entirely live, their act combines vocals with spectacular choreography and also includes other 1970s covers as well as original tracks, all within a constantly evolving stage set.

The group quickly gained visibility by performing in clubs across Italy and Europe, and by appearing on major Italian TV shows including *I Capitani* on Rai Uno, the *Maurizio Costanzo Show* and *Festa Italiana*.

2013 marked a turning point with the release of their first original single, Sharm El Sheikh, which became the theme song for *L’Eredità* on Rai Uno. The same year, signed to TRT Records / Saifam, they released Thank God I’m a Country Girl, a dance remake of a country classic popularized by John Denver. Also used as the theme for *L’Eredità*, the track was internationally licensed and paired with a Western-themed music video.

They also collaborated with a team made up of Andrea T. Mendoza, Steven Tibet, Aj and Roby Burillo on a new take on YMCA, titled La Soultrain.

In 2014, their cover of La Isla Bonita in turn became the theme song for *L’Eredità*. The video for Thank God I’m a Country Girl aired on American channels, opening the doors of the United States to the group. In spring, they released the pop-dance single Like That featuring rapper Rik Mindy, which was also broadcast in Korea.

In 2015, after tours in Russia, Egypt and Santo Domingo, they featured on Vamos Bailando, a single by Niko Noise with rapper El3mento. They then teamed up again with DJ/producer Andrea T. Mendoza for the summer single Sing a Song, licensed in several countries and supported by a music video shot between Italy and the United States. In November of the same year, they released the dance track Kick It.

Between 2016 and 2017, Village Girls embarked on a world tour taking them across Europe (Germany, Austria…) and South America (Mexico, Santo Domingo). During this period, a new country-influenced single, inspired by the success of Thank God I’m a Country Girl, was in preparation.
