Toney Lee
Biography
Toney Lee, born James Anthony Lee, is an American singer, songwriter, and music producer, born on September 12, 1953.
He is best known for his club hit Reach Up, which reached No. 10 on the US Billboard Dance chart. The track, produced and co-written with Eric Matthew, is also noted for its dub techniques—a post-disco phenomenon that preceded the rise of house music.
His earlier release Love So Deep, recorded in 1983 for Radar Records, did not achieve the same success.
In 1987, as a member of the house group The Shy Boyz—a collaborative project with Farley Jackmaster Funk—he recorded U Ain't Really House for the House Records label.
Today, he is active in gospel music.
