The Soundlovers

Biography

The Soundlovers is an eurodance group formed in Germany in 1995. The collective brings together Italian producers Molella (Maurizio Molella), Phil Jay (Filippo Carmeni) and Roberto Santini (Roby Santini), along with singers Nathalie Aarts and German Leguizamon; producer Gianni Fontana and singer Kim Gallina were also associated with the project.

Born and having lived 21 years in the Netherlands, singer Nathalie Aarts had already worked as a songwriter and performer with the La Bionda brothers, Gianna Nannini, Adriano Celentano, Right Said Fred and various producers before joining the group.

Their first single, Run-Away, released in 1996, was an immediate success on European charts; subsequent tracks People and Another Day performed well in clubs, enabling the group to tour and play live concerts.

The group’s fifth European single, Surrender, reached number one on the Italian dance charts for four weeks and remained in Italy’s Top 10 sales for over two months. The melodic, energetic single Walking, representative of the Italian dance sound of the time, was the first to be released in the United States.

In parallel, in 2001 Nathalie Aarts joined the gospel group No One Else as a soprano and performed in numerous theatres and festivals in Italy and abroad; she also took part in the charity project Angels 4 Children.

In 2002 the group released the singles Flow and Shake Your Ass (the latter in cooperation with Efisio Sergi). After two years of silence, The Soundlovers returned in late August 2006 with a double single containing Can't Stop Dancing and a cover of I'm Not Scared.

Since 1999 Nathalie Aarts has regularly collaborated with Kim Lukas; their physical resemblance often causes confusion, to the point that they have sometimes been given the wrong passport at customs. They performed as ‘two real sisters’ in the Girls Party project with Neja, and in 2007 Nathalie Aarts and Kim Lukas released their first joint single, Change The World.

Late in 2007 a new version of Run-away was released, including remixes from Germany and a production by Roby Santini under his alias RSDJ; the track later inspired Alex Christensen for his single Du hast den schönsten Arsch der Welt. The group returned in 2008 with My Body And My Soul, a cover of the original track by Delicious and Marcin Garden released in 1986.

The Soundlovers released the albums People and Club Stars.
