Biography
Summer is the stage name of Paula Brown and also her main alias.
A singer, dancer, choreographer and actress, she was born on 27 December 1967 in Washington, D.C., USA, and raised in Prince George’s County, Maryland.
She studied classical dance, with her mother as her ballet teacher. After finishing college, she moved to New York to start her career. Following an audition, she was selected for the TV series Fame and relocated to Los Angeles, where she met Janet Jackson and created her first choreographies for the album “Control”.
She later danced with DEEJAY FAMILY (for the video “Batdance”) as well as with Janet Jackson. She also sang with Paula Abdul, James Brown and Snoop Dogg.
In 1990, her brother died of AIDS.
She met Penny Ford and contributed as a backing vocalist to Snap!’s hit The Power. A few years later, Snap!’s producers asked her to return to Germany to record new songs: she improvised melodies and wrote several lyrics, and was then chosen to become the project’s new singer. She performs on the singles Welcome To Tomorrow and The First The Last Eternity, the latter dedicated to her brother.
