Starsplash

Biography

Starsplash is a hands up and happy hardcore project formed by Dutchman Ramon Roelofs, better known as Charly Lownoise, and German Frank Fritze, also known as Franky Tunes.

Ramon Roelofs has produced music since 1992 and runs the label Seashore Music; he achieved major success as a duo with Mental Theo under the name Charly Lownoise & Mental Theo. Frank Fritze released solo work on the German label Aqualoop Records and is active with the project Topmodelz.

Starsplash began in 2001 with a new version of the 1994 happy hardcore classic Wonderful Days, which became a hit. The first album, ‘Here We Go Again’, was released in March 2002 and produced three singles; the second album, ‘Friends’, followed in June 2003 and also yielded three singles. The third album, ‘Back By Popular Demand’, came out in October 2004 and included several additional singles as well as the popular track ‘Hardstyle’.

In 2005 the single ‘Cold As Ice’ was released on CDM and that year Starsplash compiled the three-CD box ‘Maximum Inside’. After that active period the project went on hiatus from 2004. Starsplash returned in 2007 with a new version of their cover of Cold As Ice, performed by singer Alex Avenell; the group’s current status is not widely documented.
