Biography
Sophie Michelle Ellis-Bextor, born 10 April 1979 in Hounslow, Greater London, is an English singer, songwriter and model.
She first became known in the late 1990s as the lead singer of the indie rock band theaudience; after the band’s split she launched a solo career and achieved widespread success in the early 2000s.
A multi-platinum artist, her music blends mainstream pop, disco, nu-disco and 1980s electronic influences.
She has released six solo albums: Read My Lips, Shoot from the Hip, Trip the Light Fantastic, Make a Scene, Wanderlust and Familia (released 2 September 2016). Her new album, HANA, is scheduled for 2 June 2023.
She is married to Richard Jones.
