Biography
Tracey Elizabeth McSween, better known by the stage names Shèna and Shèna Winchester, is an English disco and house singer, born in 1977. She is especially recognized for performing the vocals on Michael Gray‘s track The Weekend.
From a musical family—her father was a calypso singer in the band The Volcanoes—she studied at the Royal Academy of Music before embarking on an artistic career. She began on stage in musicals such as *Mamma I Want to Sing* and *Carmen Jones*, and on concert tours around the world.
Her first notable success came in 1997 with a cover of Let the Beat Hit 'Em, Part 2, which reached the UK Top 40. That version later formed the basis for Happiness in 2001 and influenced the 2022 number-one hit B.O.T.A. (Baddest of Them All).
Her biggest contribution is undoubtedly The Weekend, which reached number 7 on the UK Singles Chart in 2004, although she was not credited as the vocalist on the track. In 2008, she achieved her best chart position as a credited artist with the collaboration Watch Out.
Throughout her career, Shèna has remained a sought-after session vocalist in electronic music. She has worked on numerous dance tracks for house and EDM producers, including with Jake Williams, known as JX, on his hits There's Nothing I Won't Do and You Belong to Me. She is married to musician and producer James David Winchester.
