Biography
SERA is a Dutch singer from the town of Sliedrecht.
In 2020 she started posting live covers on YouTube, TikTok and Instagram, often from the safety of her car. Her takes on IDGAF by Dua Lipa and NO by Meghan Trainor went viral, quickly reaching hundreds of thousands of views and bringing in a wave of new followers.
One of them was Justin Bieber. After spotting SERA singing one of his songs on Instagram Live, he joined in and sang along with her. Not long after, she was asked to perform at Cristiano Ronaldo’s birthday party. She flew to Turin for what became her very first live performance, singing just a few feet away from the football star. The experience confirmed for her that this is what she wants to do for the rest of her life.
As her fanbase grew fast, one of her most popular videos — her cover of Dance Monkey by Tones and I — passed 30 million views. Encouraged by the response, SERA decided to go professional. She connected with producer and songwriter Bas van Daalen, who has worked with J Balvin, Major Lazer and David Guetta, and went to his studio to write her own material.
