Rudy

Biography

Rudy Sandapa is a singer, songwriter and producer from Melbourne, Australia.

Raised in Melbourne’s south-eastern suburbs, he began writing and playing in his cousin’s band. He bought his first keyboard as soon as he could afford it and, as a child, experimented with recording: at around eleven he used an old cassette recorder to overdub vocals and create his own harmonies.

That experimental instinct led him to become the voice behind several major dance hits. He made his name internationally by performing in some of the world’s most famous clubs and collaborating with prominent industry figures.

Highlights include the UK chart-topper In the Air, teaming with Dirty South on Phazing (No.1 on the ARIA Club Chart), and placements in the films Prime, Sydney White and The Wog Boy 2. He is also credited on Let it Go, Open Your Heart and Been a long time.

His collection of platinum plaques and ASCAP awards underscore his songwriting and production skills. He co-produced Pretty Ricky’s US hit On the Hotline with the late Stephen 'Static/Major' Garrett.

Rudy expanded his international reach — Ibiza, the US, Beirut, Dubai, Europe and the Caribbean — and featured on outlets like BBC Radio 1, performing for massive audiences alongside Dirty South.

In 2010 he performed live with Swedish House Mafia at Pacha, Ibiza. Keen to prove he is more than a dance vocalist, he continues to write, produce and perform songs he considers timeless, with further projects lined up for 2011 and beyond.
