REI AMI
Biography
REI AMI was born in Seoul, South Korea, and moved to the United States, to Maryland, at the age of six. Her upbringing took place in a strict Christian setting where so-called “worldly” music was forbidden, a constraint that ultimately became fuel for her creativity.
In middle school, she began exploring a wide variety of music, from the worlds of Destiny's Child, Mariah Carey, and Britney Spears to a significant amount of K-Pop. Later, she drew inspiration from the catalogs of artists like Kendrick Lamar, Lauryn Hill, Luther Vandross, A$AP Rocky, and Drake, which served as guideposts for her own emerging art.
She also lends her voice, for both singing and rapping, to the character Zoey in the series *KPop Demon Hunters*.
