Mr. Philips
Biography
Mr. Philips is an alias used by producer Jörg Loeffelmeier.
He discovered trance at 16 when a friend gave him a mixtape by DJ Dag. Captivated, he travelled every weekend from his small hometown Bochum to Frankfurt to visit the clubs playing this new sound.
He became a DJ, bought two turntables and invested all his money in vinyl singles. While spending so much time in the town’s only record shop he befriended the owner, DJ Quicksilver, later becoming his tour manager and managing the shop.
In 1999, Mr. Philips and DJ Quicksilver founded the label Quickey Records, devoted to dance music. Less than a year later they scored their first chart hit with Infinity by CJ Stone, followed by 7th Day by Mr. Philips, which entered club and sales charts in Germany and across Europe.
That track is described as energetic, progressive melodic trance, similar in style to Darude, ATB and Blank & Jones.
