Movetown
Biography
Movetown is a German musical project active in electronic music, primarily focused on house, electro house and vocal house. The collective is made up of three main members: singer and rapper Ray Horton, producer and multi‑instrumentalist Andreas Heck (also known as Andre Picar), and producer/DJ Steffen Gries (operating as Cha Cha Chrisar). Their complementary skills in production, studio technique and vocal performance shape their signature sound.
Ray Horton‘s career predates Movetown: he was a singer for the project ‘The Real Milli Vanilli’ in the early 1990s, a member of the band Try'B' (known for ‘Sexy Eyes’ and ‘Tell Me When It Hurts’), collaborated with the Booya Family collective and recorded songs for the artist Nana such as ‘Dreams’, ‘Pocket full of Memories’ and ‘You’, bringing extensive vocal experience to the project.
Andreas Heck has a classical background (violin, piano, electric guitar) with various orchestras, later moved toward rock and then into studio production and remixing. He worked closely with technician Thomas Weizel at the at2music studio and produced for artists and groups such as Spliff, Masterboy, Claus Eisenmann, Vinylshakerz and Rico Bernasconi.
Steffen Gries focuses on producing house tracks and DJing: as Cha Cha Chrisar he is a sought‑after DJ regularly booked in many clubs, discotheques and events across Germany. His hands‑on experience and creativity contribute to the energetic, danceable aspect of Movetown’s productions.
Together they released tracks like Lonely (Empyre One Edit Remix) in 2012, illustrating their vocal, energetic approach to house. Their music, distributed via their official site and platforms, belongs to the German club culture and the international electronic scene.
