Biography
Modern Talking was a German duo formed in 1984 in Berlin, consisting of producer and composer Dieter Bohlen and singer Thomas Anders. Their initial formation was orchestrated by the Hansa label.
The duo achieved considerable commercial success in Europe and other international markets, with many singles reaching the top five in numerous countries. Among their best-known songs are You're My Heart, You're My Soul, You Can Win If You Want, Cheri, Cheri Lady, Brother Louie, Atlantis Is Calling (S.O.S. for Love), and Geronimo's Cadillac.
The duo’s first period of activity spanned from 1983 to 1987, when they split up. They reunited in 1998 and continued to release new tracks until 2003. During this second period, they released several successful singles, some featuring American rapper Eric Singleton, such as You're My Heart, You're My Soul '98, a re-recorded version of their first hit.
Their final stage performance took place on June 21, 2003, in Berlin, following an official announcement of their permanent split by Dieter Bohlen earlier that month. At the time of their final separation, Modern Talking had sold approximately 120 million records worldwide.
Their studio discography includes the albums The 1st Album (1985), Let’s Talk About Love (1985), Ready for Romance (1986), In the Middle of Nowhere (1986), Romantic Warriors (1987), In the Garden of Venus (1987), Back for Good (1998), Alone (1999), Year of the Dragon (2000), America (2001), Victory (2002), and Universe (2003).
Their musical style is associated with Europop, Italo disco, and Eurodance.
