Mirami
Biography
Mirami is a Ukrainian pop-dance project formed in 2010 by producers Andrew Bakun, Alexander Duda (aka Alex Hitch), Oleh Kovalskyi (aka Olav Hike) and Peter Guzar (aka Peter Cliff, who left in 2012); the first two continue to lead the project. The name, derived from the Spanish “mira mi” (“look at my…”), embodies the idea of an energetic, positive female group aimed at entertaining audiences.
The selection of founding members was unusual: the first singers were Julia Ivashkiv, a linguist and journalist, and Yana Stinkus, a professional model. A third member, Marta Mokh, was almost immediately replaced by Oksana Karpiak after filming the first video, completing the lineup with the addition of a blonde.
The project made a strong start with the single Sexualna, recorded featuring rapper VovaZiLvova; the track dominated radio and television charts in Ukraine, notably on the M1 channel, and stayed at the top of the Coolbaba.cc chart for more than two months. Its success quickly spread to dance floors in Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, the Baltic states and Russia.
The debut album, Miramimania, released in Poland in September 2011 in cooperation with Magic Records / Universal Music Polska, was certified gold in November 2011, backed by the production team led by Andrew Bakun.
The group’s lineup changed over the years: Tetiana Ivaniv (2012-2014), Kate Kuhareva (aka Kate Riva, 2013-2017), Julia Miskiv (2014-2017), Sofia Kistruga (2014-2017), Jana Zhygar (2017-2018), Julia Gutnyk (2018-2021), Oksana Pidvyshenna (2017-2023) and Maria Ivaskevych (2017-2023). The current lineup consists of Tetiana Bek (since 2021), Alina Yaremyna and Iryna Zakaliuzhna (both since 2024).
