Biography

Danzel, born Johan Waem, is a Belgian house and dance singer, born on 9 November 1976 in Beveren-Waas.

He was one of the twenty finalists of the Belgian edition of Idols, “Idool 2003”. His career took off with his second single, Pump It Up, released on Ministry Of Sound UK at the end of 2004: the track became a major club hit in the United Kingdom, reaching No. 2 on the UK Dance Chart. It also enjoyed international success, charting notably at No. 9 in Australia, No. 7 in Germany, No. 11 in France and No. 15 on the US Dance Charts, with over 500,000 copies sold worldwide.

His first single, You Are All Of That, released late 2003, met with limited success, peaking at No. 80 in the UK. His third single, Put Your Hands In The Air!, released in May 2005, was a hit in UK clubs (No. 6 on the UK Dance Chart and No. 21 on the UK Singles Chart) but performed less well elsewhere in Europe.

In 2006 Danzel released My Arms Keep Missing You, a cover of the British DJ DJ F.R.A.N.K.. The single had moderate summer success, notably in Ibiza clubs, reaching No. 9 on the UK Dance Chart and No. 74 in Australia. It was included on the Spanish compilation “Disco Estrella Volume 9”.
