Biography

Milo.Nl, whose real name is Michel Beugel, was born on 30 May 1975 in Lichtenvoorde, a village in the east of the Netherlands.

As a child he spent time playing with his father’s old vinyl turntable in the attic, imagining hosting his own radio show, fueled by his father’s extensive record collection. His interest in DJing and mixing solidified after meeting DJ ZEMTEC and RAYDEN, who taught him how to properly play and mix vinyl; he also learned a great deal from Michel Besselink (aka DJ Oliver), a resident at City-Lido in Groenlo, who sold him two Soundlabs and many records to practice with.

The purchase of a mixer marked the start of his DJ career: he initially played Club/Trance and Hardstyle, and today focuses on Tech (Electro)-Trance. His first performance was at the Pan, a club in Silvolde, where he later played regularly at Utopia nights; over time his encounters in the dance scene opened the doors to many other clubs and events.

In 1999 he began on radio with DJ Rayden and Mark Beernink on Dalux FM (Lichtenvoorde) with the show Into the Night, a three-hour dance program on Saturday evenings. In September 2000 Discothek Zak asked him to produce mixes for the Hot Radio DanceParty (Saturday); he also compiled and mixed the Hot Radio Dance Yearmixes from 2000 to 2003. In February 2002 Discothek Worldcenter also enlisted him. He ended his collaboration with Hot Radio DanceParty in 2004 to focus more on production.

After his first track I Take U There (2001, UpBeat Records, Germany), the rise of hardstyle led him, together with Raymond Geerts and Feico ten Brink, to launch the project Zemtec; their releases on Seismic Records (Rotterdam), such as Bring me your silence, What? and Amen, were widely supported by international hardstyle DJs. His 2004 meeting with CJ Stone steered him toward styles like (Progressive) Trance, Electro and Progressive House; his productions then appeared on labels such as Ministry of Sound (Germany), Spinnin Records (Netherlands), Armada (Netherlands), High Contrast (Netherlands) and Refuge Records (Netherlands).
