Maria Rubia
Biography
Maria Rubia, born Maria Templeton, is a singer, model, actress and songwriter, born on 20 December 1977 in Norwich, United Kingdom. She is best known as the original vocalist of the project Fragma on their massive worldwide hit Everytime You Need Me, which reached number three on the UK charts; its video was one of the most played on MTV.
A polyglot, she speaks fluent English, German, French and Spanish, and has basic knowledge of Italian, the Scandinavian languages and Dutch. She considers French her first language, having lived in France and attended a francophone school.
Her follow-up single, Forever and a Day, was used as the official theme for Big Brother in Denmark and Sweden; released by Virgin Records only in those countries, it became a cult dance classic and is much sought-after on YouTube.
Maria Rubia had to leave the music industry for several years after the birth of her son Brandon. A difficult childbirth, which caused a separation of her pubis and pelvis (an extreme case of pubic symphysis dysfunction), forced her to use a wheelchair for thirteen months before she could walk again.
A decade after her first hit she signed a three-album deal with Supreme Dance Records; as part of that agreement Forever and a Day was re-recorded, with new promos planned for early 2011 in response to many fan requests.
