Biography

Maria Nayler, born Maria June Nayler on 26 March 1972, is a British singer best known for her collaborations on numerous electronic music productions.

In the early 1990s she was a member of the group Ultraviolet, which released the singles Kites (1990) and I Wish That (1991).

In 1995 she lent her voice to the proto‑trance track Be As One by Sash!: fourteen minutes long, the piece became one of the most sought‑after records at the end of 1995, received a full release on Deconstruction Records in early 1996 and reached number 17 on the UK Top 40.

The same year she collaborated with Italian producer Robert Miles, who added her vocals to One and One, the third single from the album Dreamland, which climbed to number 3 on the UK charts.

In 1998 Maria Nayler signed a solo deal with Deconstruction and released Naked and Sacred, a cover of a Chynna Phillips song; the single, whose B‑side included The Other Side produced by Sash! and a speed‑garage remix by Tim Deluxe, reached number 32 in the UK. The double A‑side Love is the God/Will You Be With Me, released in August 1998, did not achieve commercial success, Will You Be With Me having been written by Martika.

In 2000 she returned with Angry Skies, produced by Tilt, which reached number 42 on the UK singles chart; the second 12″ also included She, produced by Sash!. Angry Skies was reissued in 2007 on the Lost Language label.

In 2009 she provided vocals on the trance track We Belong, composed by Ferry Corsten and featured on A State of Trance.
