Biography

Mae Stephens (born Anna Mae Kelly, 24 March 2003) is an English Pop singer. She is from Kettering, Northamptonshire, and cites Freddie Mercury and Sigrid among her influences.

Using the name Anna Mae Kelly, she self-released I Want You to Be Here (March 2020) and Devil Eyes (April 2020). She then continued as Mae Stephens with the self-released tracks Infamous Kiss (September 2020) and White Lies (March 2021). In 2021, she was interviewed by the BBC about performing during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In December 2022, she posted snippets of If We Ever Broke Up on TikTok, which went viral in January 2023. Soon after, she signed to EMI and released the full single in February 2023; the Pop-funk track peaked at number 13 on the UK Singles Chart in 2023. She also recorded “Out of the Shadows” for the remastered version of the video game Until Dawn.

Her debut EP, “Securely Insecure”, was released on 2 August, preceded by the lead single Small Town Syndrome on 12 July.
