Lara McAllen

Biography

Lara Jennifer McAllen, born in 1982, developed an early interest in music and began dancing at age five. She appeared on stage young: at eighteen she worked as a dancer for Shakira.

Her studio beginnings include collaborations with DJ Tonka on demos such as ‘Don’t Cry’, ‘The Garden’ and ‘Get Back’, the latter becoming a moderate club hit across Europe. She also scored with ‘Free (Let It Be)’, produced by Stuart, which entered the Top 10 of the Dance charts and reached the Top 50 of the singles chart in the United Kingdom.

Between 2003 and 2005 she was the voice and face of the production project Angel City. Their cover of ‘Love Me Right (Oh Sheila)’ reached No. 11 in the UK; it was followed by ‘Touch Me (All Night Long)’ (No. 18) and ‘Do You Know (I Go Crazy)’ (No. 8), the latter a major club hit in Europe. A fourth single, ‘Sunrise’, released ahead of the album, reached No. 9, and the album ‘Love Me Right’ entered the Top 45.

After leaving Angel City in 2005 to pursue a solo career, she worked on new material: an electro-rock demo titled ‘Backup’ was leaked, and her solo project was initially expected in 2007. She also collaborated with DJ Tonka on the album ’84’ as vocalist, songwriter and vocal producer.
