Labelle
Biography
Labelle is an Italian dance music project made up of Maurizio Braccagni, Maurizio Capaldi, Melody Castellari and Vitale Elia.
Maurizio Braccagni is an Italian DJ, producer and remixer, born on 26/11/1968. He started as a DJ in 1987 and released his first record in 1989. He is also known under the alias Ma. Bra..
Melody Castellari is an Italian singer and producer, born on June 10, 1975 in Bologna (BO). She is the daughter of Corrado Castellari and Norina Piras. She began her career in the 1980s as a child performing cartoon songs. At 15, she started working as a backing vocalist and, alongside unreleased solo projects, contributed vocals to various dance projects.
In an interview, she stated that her vocal contributions were mostly uncredited and that she would almost never appear publicly. Notable exceptions include early works such as Zombie and Talk to Me, where she can be seen dancing and singing in the music videos. As a studio vocalist, she recorded tracks for multiple projects, including for New Music International and under the S.A.I.F.A.M. umbrella, sometimes partially or entirely in French (including two singles by Labelle and Tango). For New Music International, she also recorded the international hit Inside to Outside, but Francesca Messina was chosen as the public persona of Lady Violet. When Messina went on to record the rest of the Lady Violet songs herself, Melody Castellari became the new voice of Noemi Dee, Messina’s original alter ego.
