Kris Kross Amsterdam
Biography
Kris Kross Amsterdam is a Dutch DJ and electronic music producer trio, formed in 2011 in Amsterdam by brothers Jordy Huisman and Sander Huisman; Yuki Kempees joined them in 2014. The brothers began by hosting events that mixed various styles, notably House.
In June 2015 the trio signed to the label Spinnin’ Records and released their first single, Until the Morning, with MC CHOCO. In March 2016 they achieved worldwide success with Sex, made with American group Cheat Codes; the track, which samples the chorus of Let's Talk About Sex, reached the Top 40 in more than twenty countries and peaked at number 9 in the UK, earning a platinum certification.
Momentum continued with songs like Are You Sure? featuring Conor Maynard and Ty Dolla $ign, and Whenever with The Boy Next Door and Conor Maynard, which reworks the chorus of Whenever, Wherever; the latter reached number one in Poland and charted in over fifteen countries.
From 2019 the trio focused on Dutch‑language songs that sample international hits. They scored their first Dutch Top 40 number one with Hij Is Van Mij, with Maan, Tabitha and Bizzey; the track, which reinterprets The Boy Is Mine, surpassed 100 million streams and became one of the best‑selling Dutch songs of all time. They followed up with Moment featuring Kraantje Pappie and Tabitha, adapted from Een Moment Zonder Jou, which reached number three on the Dutch Top 40.
In 2021 the trio returned to English with Early In The Morning featuring Shaggy and Conor Maynard, which entered the Dutch and Belgian charts. The same year they collaborated with Antoon and Sigourney K. on Vluchtstrook, which samples Have You Ever Been Mellow; the single became an immediate hit, reaching number two in the Netherlands and earning triple platinum certification.
In 2023 Kris Kross Amsterdam again worked with international artists on How You Samba, which samples Samba de Janeiro and features Tinie Tempah and Sofía Reyes; the song became their second number one on the Dutch Top 40, although it did not break internationally.
