Junior Jack

Biography

Junior Jack, real name Vito Lucente, is a house music producer and DJ born in Italy on 31 August 1971, who grew up and lives in Belgium. He began his musical career in 1985.

In 1995, after leaving eurodance, he adopted the pseudonym Mr. Jack, later becoming Junior Jack, to focus on house music. He achieved notable success in the United Kingdom with several Top 40 singles: My Feeling, Thrill Me (Such A Thrill), E Samba, Dare Me (Stupidisco) and Da Hype. The latter features vocals by Robert Smith (of The Cure) and uses samples from I'm So Hot For You.

His album Trust It, released as Junior Jack, was well received by critics. The tracks My Feeling and Stupidisco are built around vocal samples taken respectively from Saturday Love and Dare Me. In 2007, Stupidisco was reissued as Dare Me (Stupidisco) with new vocals by Shena replacing the original sample, reaching number 20 on the UK charts.

At the same time, Vito Lucente collaborated with disco artist Oliver Cheatham under the alias Room 5. Together they reached number one on the UK Top 40 and the European Dance Charts with the single Make Luv, a remake of Oliver Cheatham’s (Get Down) Saturday Night. Under the same alias he released the album Music And You. Both albums, Trust It and Music And You, were issued by the PIAS Recordings label.

Junior Jack is also a recognised remixer, having reworked tracks for artists such as Whitney Houston, Moby, Bob Sinclar and Utada. His track E-Samba was ranked the second biggest club hit of 2003.
