Biography

The Dutch producer and DJ Joop, real name Joop Alkema, was born on March 11, 1975 in Harlingen and is based in Leeuwarden.

His career truly took off in 2001 when he won a national DJ contest organized by the promoter ID&T. This victory opened the doors to major festivals like Trance Energy, Innercity, Mysteryland and the famous Sensation.

In 2002, he was chosen by ID&T to mix the prestigious Trance Energy compilation. Subsequently, tracks like Act Of God, The World, Another World and Sonsuz marked his international breakthrough.

The massive anthem for Trance Energy 2007, The Future, became legendary and propelled Joop on a world tour that took him to all continents.

Over a decade of success, he developed a unique style, fusing elements from different genres of electronic music. In 2012, his collaboration with vocalist Tiffany Johnston, Just One Night, met with instant triumph, praised by Armin Van Buuren on his radio show.

He is also a manager and A&R for the booking agency and label Airborne Artists Agency, as well as for its division Airborne Black.

His style is often associated with electro house, tech trance, progressive trance and hard trance.
