
Jessica Hammond
Biography
Jessica Hammond is a Northern Irish singer and songwriter from Belfast. She started singing at the age of six and passed the vocal grades of the British School of Music by ten. She learned guitar at eleven, then saxophone, bass, and drums at sixteen. She also trained as a sound engineer to master the studio environment.
Her career began with talent competitions. In April 2009, she was a finalist in the Disney Channel UK talent search My Camp Rock, performing the song Here I Am before a judging panel including Gary Lloyd, Zoe Tyler, and Craig David. In 2010, she won the Young Star Search organised by Belfast CityBeat.
She wrote several songs such as Try Again, No Doubt, My Boyfriend, Star, and Cheater, which received airplay on Citybeat Radio and Q Radio. Signed to DWB Publishing London, she found success with the song Picture, co-written with Ollie Green, and received a PRS songwriting award.
In 2012, she auditioned for the first UK season of The Voice, turning all the judges’ chairs. She joined Jessie J’s team but was eliminated in the Battle Rounds after losing to Vince Kidd. She later signed with Julian White MGMT and toured across the UK and Ireland.
After a hiatus, she collaborated with artists at studios like Power Studios, working with producers such as Jake Gosling (known for Ed Sheeran and One Direction) and Benny D (who has worked with Paloma Faith, Stormzy, and Anne-Marie). She also operates from Black Studios, a small recording studio in East Belfast.
Her musical style is described as rock-pop, and she continues to evolve within the music industry.
