Jd Wood
Biography
Jd Wood is the stage name used by German sound engineer and producer Jörg Dewald. His career in electronic music is marked by a leading technical and creative role within the German scene, particularly around Frankfurt and Darmstadt.
He began as an engineer for the early releases of Tom Wax and Thorsten Adler on the Harthouse label, as well as on Overdrive, Logic, Influence, and R&S. After Tom Wax and Thorsten Adler set up their own studio, Jörg Dewald continued to assist Thorsten Adler with his solo projects. He then worked as an engineer for other artists in the region.
In 1990, he began building his first personal studio, the Sound Everest Studio in Pfungstadt, which opened in early 1991. It was during this period that his career as a producer truly took off.
From 1993 to 1996, he produced and engineered for the Men Behind project alongside Karsten Brandt, alias Todd Canard, and Peter Aleksander (Superstar Recordings). In 1994, this team received a gold record for the remix of the song When do I get to sing my way.
Between 1998 and 2002, he produced with the team of Cyborg DMP GmbH. During this time, he collaborated with a multitude of artists, including David Garrett, Vanessa-Mae, Melanie Thornton, Kim Sanders, Jam & Spoon, Erasure, Ralph Siegel, Gil Ofarim, Magic Affair, Sabrina Setlur, Ayman, and Talla 2XLC.
In 2002, he began a new chapter by venturing into song production and writing with Bernd Breiter, who later became the CEO of BigCitybeats, the organization responsible for the “World Club Dome” events. From 2005 onwards, Jörg Dewald was tasked with composing and producing almost all radio jingles and video advertisements for BigCityBeats. He also created the first track (intro) for each of their compilations as well as the music for the opening and closing shows of their events.
In 2016, he moved to Nidda in Hesse, and his studio is now simply called JD Wood Production. He is also active under his real name, Jd Wood, and has used the alias Gonzales De Waldez.
