Biography

Helena, born Helena Marianne Josefsson on 23 March 1978 in the parish of Torslunda, Kalmar County, grew up mainly in the Malmö/Lund area.

She began her career as a singer in the band Plastic Soul alongside schoolmate Johan Duncanson, then co-founded Sandy Mouche with her husband Martin.

Helena collaborated with Per Gessle on the album Mazarin and has continued to sing on his projects and tours, notably with Gyllene Tider and Roxette. She has also provided backing vocals for Andreas Johnson, The Ark, Sebastian Karlsson and Righteous Boy.

Her first solo album, Dynamo, was released on 28 February 2007; her second solo album, Kyss Mej, appeared in 2011. That year she features in the documentary I am my own Dolly Parton alongside Nina Persson, Cecilia Nordlund, Lotta Wenglén and Gudrún Hauksdóttir.

She sang on several tracks by Arash, including Arash and Pure Love. In 2012 she performed the theme for the film Hamilton: In the Interest of the Nation as a duet with Robert Pettersson (of Takida), My Own Worst Enemy. With the trio Kontur she released the album Happiness in 2015.
