Heaven
Biography
Heaven is a Romanian dance-pop group formed in early 2005 in Vaslui. The trio initially consisted of lead singer Adina Postelnicu, her sister Roxana Spoială and Aliana Roșca.
The group rose to local prominence after releasing their debut single, Pentru totdeauna, which reached number 24 on the Romanian charts. That same year they began promoting Du-ma pe o stea, which brought them back into the spotlight.
Their first album, O Parte Din Rai, was released in spring 2006 on the Cat Music label; it included the first two singles and new tracks produced by Gabi Huiban. The group also promoted the single O Parte Din Rai, whose military-themed video cost about $10,000. In recognition of this commercial success, Heaven won the “Best New Act” award at the 2006 MTV Romania Music Awards.
In early 2007 the group collaborated with American pop group No Mercy on the single Let's Dance. Late in 2007 Heaven received another MTV RMA award for their website. In 2008 management problems arose and one of the founding members, Roxana Spoială, left to pursue a solo career; the group also split with manager Radu Groza and the Cat Music label. During this period they promoted the single Kiss Me, which achieved moderate success.
Roxana Spoială was eventually replaced by Aliana Roșca and Heaven began working with Romanian producer Costi Ioniță. They then released Sexy Girl, written by Alexandru Pelin, Gabriel Huiban and Deaconu Dan Andrei, promoted by Heaven Artist Company; the track received favorable reviews and reached number one on the charts in Malta and Cyprus for several weeks in summer 2010, prompting a tour across the Mediterranean.
From late 2009 the group worked on a new studio album, So Lonely, scheduled for official release in November 2010. Late in 2010 Heaven performed in the United States for the Romanian diaspora.
