Franca Morgano

Franca Morgano

Biography

Franca Morgano is a German singer of Italian origin.
Born on January 4 in Frankfurt am Main (Germany), she grew up in a strict household; her family came from Southern Italy and she has one sister and one brother. She taught herself guitar at 11 and started writing her first songs at 13.
She won many 1st and 2nd places in music competitions, including the Rudi Carrell Show (1991) and the Berliner Funkausstellung (1991). She also sang backing vocals for Mariah Carey, toured with the Frankfurter Symphonie-Orchester, and took part in various music groups before being noticed by Mike Staab.

That led to her becoming the female voice of the Euro Dance project Magic Affair. Her vocals were recorded separately from A.K. -S.W.I.F.T.’s, and she only met him when the first video was filmed. She sang on the project’s first—and most successful—album, won the Echo Award for Best Dance Act of the Year in Munich in 1994 and 1995, and received an MTV-Award nomination in Berlin in 1995.

In 1994, she also provided vocals for The Musketeers on the single All For Love, sang on Save Me by Trance-Mission, and on You Drive Me Crazy by Iio.

She was fired from Magic Affair in February 1995 after the first album. She and A.K. -S.W.I.F.T. then recorded a cover of Good Times under the name Blaxone. Afterwards, she went solo as Voice, releasing three singles: Dance With Me, I Can Reach Nobody, and a cover of Scandal. She also featured with the Techno project Lust on Planet Paradise'96, with Tory Kay on I Wanna Fly (lyrics written by her), and with Gate on the single Interlace. Under her own name, she released One Way Street and Here I Am.

She later began collaborating with Ryan Paris, appearing on It's My Life (1998), Babe, and I Wanna Love You Once Again (2000).

Beyond singing, she works as a composer and producer. She presented TV broadcasts and appeared in commercials (Shamtu Shampoo, Cafe Lorenzo, CenterPark, Maggi, VDEW Sarah Lee, and Lufthansa). She created the project Franca and the Funky Grooves with singer Ilka and guitarist Bobby Stöcker, took part in groups such as Spirit Of Soul and Sexy Motha Funky, and collaborated with Ralf Olbrich, Bobby Brown, Giorgio Rozario, and Mini, der Teufelsgeiger. She also founded her own company, MM Entertainment, specializing in radio jingles, and teaches songwriting.

In 2003, she returned to Magic Affair for the single Fly Away (La Serinissima). Around the same time, she contributed to the Trance single Promiseland by Hypetraxx, appearing in the video, on stage, and on the recording.
