Emma Hewitt
Biography
Emma Hewitt, full name Emma Louise Hewitt, is an Australian singer and songwriter, born on 28 April 1988 in Geelong, Victoria.
Her voice is immediately recognizable, carried by haunting melodies and lyrics tinged with nostalgia. Music was initially an escape during her adolescence, when she performed acoustically in her native region. She says her songs were born from personal questions that, over time, ‘have taken flight’.
Her career began with a contract at Sony Music for her project Missing Hours, a brief but formative experience. She felt some discomfort with industry pressures and preferred to focus on writing meaningful songs.
Her path took a decisive turn with her first collaboration in the EDM world alongside British producer Chris Lake. The track Carry Me Away became a worldwide hit, reaching number one on Billboard’s Hot Dance Airplay chart and remaining over 50 weeks in the Top 100.
She then collaborated with German icons Cosmic Gate for the anthem Not Enough Time, and with Dutch superstar Dash Berlin for the mega-hit Waiting. The latter firmly established her reputation as an international trance talent, earning number one on the Global Trance Charts, second place on the annual A State Of Trance ranking, and an International Dance Music Award in 2010.
A series of Beatport number-one releases followed in 2010. Buoyed by that creative momentum and with support from the label Armada Music, she undertook the ambitious production of a first double album, determined to remain true to her songs without stylistic constraints and to share as much music as possible with her audience.
