Biography

Eddy Wata, real name Kingsley Omoruyi, is a Nigerian dance music artist.

Born to a Nigerian mother and a Jamaican father, he starts playing a battery-powered keyboard at a very young age. At 18, he moves to Jamaica for four years, where he meets artists who foster his love for reggae. Upon returning to Nigeria, he forms a band and, after numerous television appearances, travels to Europe in 2001.

In the Netherlands, he meets producers Longoni and Groff. After a concert, his new producers take him to Italy, where he meets several artists and DJs. In the autumn of 2003, Wata and his producers decide to market his music, and success comes with the 2004 release of the single Jam.

He also collaborates with Italian DJ Gabry Ponte on the track A Silvia, on which Wata provides English vocals with a reggae accent. His musical style is associated with dance, techno, eurodance, trance, electronic music, and Italo dance.

He is also known by the names E. W, E. W., E. Wata, E.W, E.W., E.W.*, Eddi Wata, Eddie, Eddie Wata, and Eddy Watta.
