DJs @ Work

Biography

DJs @ Work is a German producers’ collective originally formed by Herby F. (Herbert Fred Müller), Ole Van Dansk (Björn Ole Pörksen) and Lenny McDustin (Lennart Vonau). Jan-Hendrik Geßner was also part of the group.

The core of the project came together when Ole and Lenny, who had known each other since school and were already collaborating on productions for Area and its label Vinyl Vibes Records, met Herby F., then a producer for Tunnel Records and the label Trance Formation Records.

Their first single Rhythm & Drums 2001 placed in the Media Control Sales Charts, initially under their name and later in collaboration with “DJ Speech 5”. The same year they had a major breakthrough with Someday, their cover of Nena’s hit, which reached the Top 5 in the charts.

Their rise continued with the singles Times 2 Wonder and Teamwork and their debut album, all charting. Their visibility on the global dance scene led to international tours and numerous remix requests, culminating in nominations for the Echo and VIVA ZDF COMET awards in 2002 in the Dance category.

Their second album, Past What's Yesterday, was released in early 2004, with its title singles also entering the charts. Shortly after, in 2003, Ole van Dansk left the group to focus on personal projects such as White Style, Pointguard and Pure Pressure; he later signed to Aqualoop Records.

The split led to a four-year creative pause during which members worked on other projects like Fox Force Five, Partick Bunton and Herbert Fred Müller’s solo productions. In 2003, B. Brüggemann (Bert Brüggemann) had joined the collective as a co-producer.

In May 2005 a surprise was announced: the group had secretly reformed and released a new single, Your Love, marking an evolved sound blending House, Electrohouse and Progressive Trance born of their respective musical experiences. Ole van Dansk contributed to that track via a production contract with Herbert Fred Müller but did not officially rejoin the group.
