DJ Yanny
Biography
DJ Yanny, whose real name is Jan Miesner, began his career in 1991 at the “Unit” club in Hamburg, inspired by resident DJ Gary D., who taught him how to mix.
His DJ career truly took off in 1992 at the Hamburg club “Meineid”. He then became a resident at a string of influential clubs: “NO Limit”, “Reactor”, “Twilight” (the former “Unit”), “Tunnels”, and finally “EFX”, where his nights achieved cult status. In 1995, he joined the legendary “Tunnel” club for a three-year residency. After a stint at the “Voilá” club, he returned to “Tunnel” in 2004, where he has successfully hosted exclusive events every Saturday ever since. He also performs across Germany and worldwide with the Tunnel Trance Force Tour.
Alongside his DJ work, DJ Yanny established himself as a producer and co-producer. From 1995 onward, he created projects such as Sequel Bass (with the 12″ Voices) and DJ Yanny & The Paragod (with the 12″ Initialize) in cooperation with Matthias Gehrmann (DJ Analyzer). He later collaborated on productions and remixes with Gary D. (Forkman).
Most of his releases were created as a duo with DJ Gollum. Together they formed the projects Gollum & Yanny, Killerbounce (EDM), Luna System (PIAS), Cosmic Commando, and Shithead (Q-Dance). Under the name Luna System, they reached number one on the Dutch Dance Charts. Their collaboration also led to successes such as Neo Cortex (with the 12″ Elements, in cooperation with D.K. Booth), DJ Yanny pres. Terraformer, 4 Elements, and Langenhagen (with Frank Raven).
He is also known for his solo releases as DJ Yanny and for the Tunnel Allstars project on Tunnel Records, which he currently runs with DJ Analyzer and Marshall McLuhen. This project produced successful tracks such as Captain Future and Flug auf dem Glücksdrachen. Overall, he has around thirty releases to his name.
DJ Yanny is also the compiler of the successful “Energy Trance” series and mixes the 2CD compilation “Tunnel Allstars + Best of Tunnel” for Tunnel Records.
