Delerium

Delerium

Biography

Delerium is a Canadian electronic music project from Vancouver, formed in 1987. It was originally created as a side project by members of Front Line Assembly, distinct from their other project Intermix in its orientation.

The only constant member is Bill Leeb; the project has traditionally operated as a duo. After Michael Balch’s departure, Leeb collaborated with Rhys Fulber on several albums, a period that saw a gradual shift from darker ambient to a more dance-oriented sound.

They gained wide recognition after moving toward ethnic-influenced electronica and New Age elements; from that period came their number-one single Silence with Sarah McLachlan, which achieved substantial popular success, especially following trance remixes.

After the album Karma, Rhys Fulber left the project and Bill Leeb teamed with producer Chris Peterson for Poem. Leeb and Fulber reunited in 2003 for Chimera and continued their collaboration on Nuages Du Monde.

Since then Delerium has largely operated as an electropop group featuring numerous guest vocalists; the duo also worked with vocalist Leigh Nash on the single Innocente, before releasing a self-titled album under the name Fauxliage in 2007.

Delerium’s music has been used in films such as Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and Brokedown Palace.
