Biography
Corina (born Corina Monica Bud, 26 January 1980 in Satu Mare), formerly known as Ciorbă.
She debuted in 2004 with the album Noi Doi, produced by Marius Moga; the lead single Noi Doi reached #4 on the Romanian Top 100.
The second album, Îmi place tot (1 January 2005), generated the singles Îmi place la tine tot and Fata Tine, earning her the nickname “Corina Hits”.
The third album, Face Off, marked a shift toward pop/dance with influences of dancehall, reggae, R&B, drum’n’bass, house and electro; it featured the singles Quieres una aventura and Overdrive.
The fourth album, Gimme Your Love (July 2008), was recorded and produced in Hamburg under the supervision of Toni Cottura.
A pop-dance/electronic singer and fashion icon, she is the daughter of Ileana, a retired baker of Ukrainian descent, and Vasile, a retired carpenter.
She began performing at age 8 (contests, church choir), considered studying law before committing to a singing career.
Her son Robin was born in 2008. She returned in 2011 with the single No Sleepin' featuring JJ (Geneva); the track, released by Sony Music France and Bianco Y Negro (Spain), reached the Top 10 in Poland and the Top 20 in Germany and Austria.
The singles A Ta (2012) and Pernele Moi (2013) peaked at #3 on the Romanian Airplay 100, while Fete Din Balcani (2015), featuring Skizzo Skills and Mira and produced by Vanotek, amassed 80 million views.
