Blasterjaxx

Biography

Blasterjaxx is a Dutch DJ and electronic music producer duo, composed of Thom Jongkind (born 3 March 1990) and Idir Makhlaf (born 23 October 1991), both from The Hague.

The project began in 2010 when Thom Jongkind, then known as Scalix, formed a duo with another producer. Despite progress in their productions and audience, a decline in personal chemistry led to the end of that collaboration; he kept the name Blasterjaxx, convinced the project should remain a duo.

He then found the ideal partner in Idir Makhlaf, who was producing under the name Macosta. From their first collaborations their rapport was perfect, giving rise to a new Blasterjaxx lineup with considerable talent and potential.

Their unique sound, described as a crossover between electro-house, big room and Latin influences, quickly attracted attention. From 2010 they achieved high rankings on various music platforms and had tracks released by renowned labels such as Defected Records, Universal, Dirty Dutch and G-Rex.

Their work received support from leading DJs like Sidney Samson, Gregor Salto, Franky Rizardo and Vato Gonzalez. In 2011 their bootleg of the global hit “Hello” was a major success, downloaded and played more than one million times and supported nationally and internationally.

The year 2012 marked a turning point with the release of the EP “Reborn”, produced in collaboration with D-Rashid and featuring the tracks “Reborn” and “Where We Go”. This EP symbolized the duo’s sonic rebirth and allowed them to present their sound to a worldwide audience.

The duo’s dynamic relies on contrasting personalities: one often forward and charismatic, the other preferring to stay in the background. This complementarity is cemented by a shared passion and deep love for music.
