AYDA
Biography
AYDA, also known as Ayda Mosharraf, is a Swedish singer, composer and artist born on January 8, 1990 in Gothenburg.
Raised in a music-loving household, she started singing at a very young age, influenced by her Persian father and her Turkish-Azerbaijani mother. Her father introduced her to The Beatles, Queen and Persian music, while her mother introduced her to Turkish music. Lauryn Hill was also a major influence on her singing and songwriting.
At the age of sixteen, she learned to play guitar and began composing. After moving to the UK at 18, she honed her songwriting and regularly shared her creations and covers on her YouTube channel.
Her career took a turn in 2013 when she participated in The Voice of Turquie, placing second after a notable cover of Isyan. She then signed with Sony Music Turquie and released her first Turkish single in January 2015.
Subsequently, Ayda refocused her career in Europe and independently released an English-language single. Her work draws from her rich cultural heritage, integrating ethnic elements into her style.
Her musical universe is mainly in electronic and danceable genres, exploring trance, progressive trance, dance and electronica, with touches of Turkish pop.
She now divides her time between Istanbul and the UK, where she works on writing and producing English-language music projects.
