Airy

Airy is an Italo dance project conceived by Roberto Arduini, Raf Marchesini and Claudio Maifrini.

The project also involves Italian singer and producer Melody Castellari, born on 10 June 1975 in Bologna (BO), daughter of Corrado Castellari and Norina Piras.

Together they released tracks such as Just for Tonight (Def-In-Mix), issued in 2000.

Melody Castellari began her career in the 1980s as a child performing cartoon songs. At 15 she started working as a backing vocalist and also lent her voice to various dance music projects, mostly uncredited and almost never appearing publicly. Notable exceptions include early works like Zombie and Talk to Me, where she can be seen in the music videos.

As a studio vocalist she recorded for multiple projects connected to New Music International and under the S.A.I.F.A.M. umbrella, including some partly or entirely in French, such as two singles by Labelle and Tango. For New Music International she also recorded the international hit Inside to Outside, while Francesca Messina was chosen as the public Lady Violet persona. As Francesca Messina recorded the rest of the Lady Violet songs herself, Melody Castellari became the new voice of Noemi Dee, Messina’s original alter ego.

As a songwriter, she wrote music for artists such as Fabrizio De André, Mina, Milva and Ornella Vanoni. As a solo artist she released the pop album Vorrei in 1998, along with a couple of singles in various styles.

In 2002 she played “Princess Nefertari” in the musical “The Ten Commandments”, produced by Guido and Maurizio de Angelis, and on 4 August that same year she performed at Castel Gandolfo in memory of Pope John Paul II. In recent years she has also worked as a producer, while continuing as a backing vocalist for Italian and international artists (Elio e le Storie Tese, Brazilian Love Affair, Nick the Nightfly, Fiordaliso, Flubby, Time Machine, etc.) and as a lead vocalist for dance projects.
