Mira

Mirabela, known by the stage name Mira (alias Mira), is Maria Mirabela Cismaru, born on 12 March 1995 in Rovinari.

Passionate about music from childhood, she sang folk songs with her mother, a folk soloist, and began learning guitar. In December 2011, at 16, she won the title « Miss Craciunita din Rovinari ». In 2012 she took part in « Vocea Romaniei » on Marius Moga’s team, which launched her collaborations: with DJ Marc Ryan on So lala, with Allexinno on Loving You and In love, and with Zhao on Zi-mi ceva. In 2014 she signed with Global Records and adopted the stage name Mira.

She went on to release many collaborations (notably with What’s Up, Kio, Piticu, Corina and Skizzo Skills); Fete din Balcani surpassed 71 million views. Other hits include Bella, Uit de tine and O privire. Between 2017 and 2019, her work with DJ Project produced Vina and Inima nebuna, which topped the charts. In September 2017 she was involved in a road accident with members of DJ Project; all were hospitalized without serious injuries. In 2018 her half-brother Robert Cimpoieru died at age 22 in a road accident.

She says she discovered her passion for music at age 5 by listening to her mother and credits her talent to both parents: her mother was a folk singer and her father sang with her in a group before becoming a painter. She worked five years at the Palatul copiilor (Children’s Palace) in Târgu Jiu in the light music department, where she also studied guitar, then toured the country from age 13 for light music festivals, winning awards. Her participation in « Vocea Romaniei » allowed her to join Marius Moga’s team and reach the live shows.
