Biography

Roy Gates, real name Roy Poortmans, is a Dutch DJ and producer. His career began with the immediate success of his first single How Deep, voted “Dancesmash” on Radio 538 and widely broadcast. His next single, On My Way, was supported by DJs like Armin Van Buuren, E-Craig, DJ Jean, DJ Jose, and Randy Katana, and played for weeks on TMF and Slam!FM.

His collaboration with E-Craig for We Rock Together propelled him onto the international scene. The music video was shot in Poland, a country where he performs regularly. His fourth single, Lose Myself, became a huge success, leading to performances on shows like “Top of the Pops” and “Reaction” (TMF), as well as on the Museumplein during Queen’s Day with Radio 538. The track was voted “Dancesmash” and “Grandslam” on Slam!FM.

The single Midnight Sun, a blend of club trance and electro, saw its Divini & Warning mix played by Armin Van Buuren on “A State of Trance” and received support from Randy Katana, Ron Van Den Beuken, Jochen Miller, Sander van Doorn, and DJ Jean, with the latter dubbing him “The New Tiësto“. His hit tracks are featured on over one million compilations worldwide.
