Jaren

Jaren

Biography

Jaren, legally Jaren Audrey Cerf (née Voight), is a singer, vocalist, songwriter, and actress based in Montreal, specializing in trance and house music.

She is best known for her work in the trance vocal trio Cerf, Mitiska & Jaren, formed with Matt Cerf, to whom she was formerly married, and Shawn Mitiska. She is also the sister of the artist Josie (4).

Originally from a small town in Wyoming, her musical journey began at age 16 in country and folk. A formative experience in Sweden allowed her to write and collaborate with songwriters who had worked for major pop stars.

Her introduction to electronic music occurred in 2005 upon meeting Matt Cerf. Their collaboration quickly led to the formation of the trio, whose track Light The Skies, particularly in its Retrobyte remix, achieved notable success. The song was included on Armin van Buuren’s compilation A State of Trance 2007 and cited among his favorite tracks of the year.

Alongside her dance music career, Jaren pursued a more personal folk project, resulting in an album titled Fixin’ It Upright, blending classical, pop, and European influences.

She has also been active under the alias Fenja (2) and is sometimes listed as Jaren Cerf or under her maiden name, Jaren Voight.
