Biography

RIELL is a Canada-born alt-pop artist rising as an up-and-coming underground sensation. She’s known among fans for standout vocals and for songwriting presented as raw and authentic, exploring hardship, self-discovery, and the darker side of the mind. She has been compared to Halsey, Rihanna, and Adele.

She is currently rolling out her 18-track debut album, HYMNS FOR THE BITTER, released as three EPs of six songs each. The project is framed as a villain’s origin story, with the full album slated for early 2025. It’s being expanded through additional narrative and visual pieces, including 14 cinematic vignettes, a 10+ minute interactive video game experience, and four full music videos.

RIELL started as an EDM topliner, releasing major tracks with Gabry Ponte, TheFatRat, and Blasterjaxx, before shifting focus to her own independent artistry. She placed second in the International Songwriting Competition (ISC), behind David Kushner, and was invited to the Antisocial Songwriting Camp.

Her vocals and songwriting have earned multiple accolades, including a Western Canada Music Award for Electronic Artist of the Year, the Grand Prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition, and first prize in the USA Songwriting Competition (Dance/Electronic). She also received Honorable Mentions in the International Songwriting Competition and Unsigned Only, placed in the Top 5 of the CBC Searchlight Competition, reached the Top 10 for the Edmonton Music Prize, and was one of four artists selected for the Allan Slaight JUNO Masterclass in 2021. Her training includes completing Grade 10 RCM for piano and earning a Bachelor of Music in Voice.

She recently partnered with N60° MGMT while maintaining her status as an independent artist. For 2025, RIELL intends to return to touring after a hiatus since the pandemic; earlier in her career, her live show took her on three international tours across Europe, Africa, Asia, and Canada.
