Biography
Sophia May, stage name of Sophia Hurst, is a British singer and songwriter.
In collaboration with British producer Bellatrax, she topped the US Billboard Hot Dance Airplay chart for three consecutive weeks. Her track was ranked the second dance airplay song of 2008, surpassing artists such as Cascada, Natasha Bedingfield, Mary J. Blige, and Madonna featuring Justin Timberlake. She also reached number one on the Hot 96 Charts in the United States.
Her career began at age 16 when she opened for British bands like Offside (Warner), Colourstone, Kosheen, and Roni Size – winner of the Mercury Prize.
In high demand, she then performed in New York, Seattle, and San Francisco with renowned artists such as Lady Gaga, Michelle Williams, and Cyndi Lauper. In 2009, she worked on new projects with Sunfreakz, Raz Nitzan, and David Bernardi, and was scheduled to perform at the Winter Music Seminar in March 2009. Simultaneously, she wrote songs for other performers.
