Kalwi and Remi

Kalwi and Remi

Biography

Krzysztof Kalwat (Kalwi) and Remigiusz Pośpiech (Remi) formed a Polish DJ and producer duo in autumn 2003, bringing together two radio hosts focused on electronic dance music. The project grew through DJ sets, mix compilations and original productions.

In July 2004 they opened for Tiësto in Poland. In June 2005 they released their first DJ mix album Kalwi & Remi in the Mix Vol. 1, featuring their own tracks such as El Ninio and Explosion. The double A-side “IndepenDance/Explosion” reached No. 8 on the Swiss techno/trance DJ chart in early 2006.

A remixed version of Explosion became an international club hit in 2006. Their album Always in Trance was issued in April 2006 by My Music; Judge Jules played the track on BBC Radio 1 and the video aired on bpm:tv. They also released Kalwi & Remi and Friends Vol. 2, including Imagination, and began a weekly show on Radio Eska.

Other singles include Victory (a homage to Lech Poznań sampling the UEFA Champions League anthem), Made in USA, Stop (Falling Down), Find You and Kiss (5th at the Bydgoszcz Hit Festival in 2010). The 2007 compilation Electro and performances across England, invited by Ministry of Sound, expanded their European presence; they also played in Dubai in 2007 and at Hammersmith Palais supporting Sonique.

They collaborated with international artists and producers including Judge Jules, Amanda Wilson, John Christian and Afrika Islam. In 2009 they presented Lips with Gosia Andrzejewicz at Midem. The album Kiss Me Girl (April 2011) features You and I feat. Amanda Wilson, which reached the top 40 of the Polish club charts and No. 1 on Polish TV airplay, and charted in Bulgaria.

In 2013 they released the Polish single Pragnę cię (top 40 clubs) and an English version I Need You feat. Amanda Wilson. The 2016 tropical-house-tinged single Daj mi klapsa provoked controversy for its lyrics and video; in 2018 Unbreakable returned them to radio playlists and the top 20 of the Polish club chart.
