Biography
Vali Bărbulescu is a Romanian DJ associated with house, minimal and techno. He started his career in 1999, at the age of 15, using SL1200 MKII turntables.
A year later, he secured three monthly residencies at Hippodrome, Graffiti and Chrome, among the most popular clubs at the time. He then went on to play many other sets in Romania and abroad, including the opening night of Kristal Glam Club, described as the country’s most famous club.
Throughout his career, he has shared bills with James Zabiela, ATB, Roger Sanchez and David Morales. In 2004, during the Winter Music Conference in Miami, he decided to launch his own label, Valio Records.
He was voted best Romanian DJ on thedjlist.com for two consecutive years. At the Romanian Music Awards 2010, he received the special award for “Best Radio DJ”.
He works at the radio station Vibe FM, driven by the ambition to promote club music on FM airwaves. Interested in television, he has also hosted shows on MTV and TVR1 over the years. Alongside music, he is a fashion photographer, with his work published in outlets including FHM.
