Biography

Vincent de Moor is a trance artist born on 5 December 1973 in Delft (Netherlands). His career began in 1993 and he became known in the second half of the 1990s under various pseudonyms. Among his early successes is the release that put him on the UK radar: Flowtation (major release in 1996, chart presence in 1997).

In 1998 he released the album ‘Orion City’, followed by the 2000 album ‘Moor’, which contains several notable singles such as ‘Shamu’, ‘Between 2 Fires’ and ‘Eternity (Forever)’. His best-known single remains Fly Away (Extended Radio Edit) (2001), which reached No. 30 on the UK charts in 2001; some pressings were also issued under the pseudonym Emerald.

The many names associated with him — Fix To Fax (used at the very beginning), Questia, Raster, Flashbang, Sidewalk, Phocus and others — reflect a prolific, project-based activity allowing releases under different identities and collaborations. A notable collaboration is the project Veracocha, created with Ferry Corsten; their single ‘Carte Blanche’ reached No. 22 on the UK charts and remains a landmark of late-1990s trance.

After 2000 he continued to appear under various names: in 2003 he released material as Questia (‘Crystal Clouds’, ‘Nexus’), and in 2004 releases appeared under Raster or Flashbang. Music sources categorize him mainly within trance and progressive trance, reflecting the path that made him familiar to the electronic audience of the 1990s–2000s.
