Charly Lownoise
Biography
Charly Lownoise, whose real name is Ramon Roelofs, was born on 17 June 1968 in The Hague, the Netherlands.
Until 1987, his teenage years were shaped by disco and Italian music. His musical direction changed when he discovered house music during summer holidays in Blanes, Spain.
In 1992, he met Mental Theo, with whom he started making music. Throughout the 1990s, Charly Lownoise & Mental Theo became leading figures in popular music, spreading their happy hardcore sound across Europe and the rest of the world. They scored many high-charting hits such as Wonderful Days, Stars, Together in Wonderland, Hardcore Feelings and Fantasy World.
By the end of the 1990s, Charly Lownoise had grown tired of the commercial happy hardcore sound. He returned to experimenting in the studio with two longtime friends, Frank and Marcel. Looking to build a bridge between hardcore and trance, a genre then on the rise, they released several hardstyle tracks under the name Deepack.
At the same time, Lownoise was involved in other projects such as the Dutch CD series “Bitte ein Beat!” and the German crew “Starsplash”. He runs his own label, “Moveable Frequency”. With Deaz D, he launched the “Bitte Ein Beat” parties across the Netherlands and Germany.
The music theme for “Rave the City 3” was released under the name Charly Lownoise, a pseudonym he still uses. In 2007, he published his autobiography, titled “Autobiografie van een DJ”.
